Mehek is an indian born, london based writer-director and advertising creative.
She graduated from Bournemouth University with a Masters in Directing Film & TV. Over the past ten years, she has crafted stories that explore culture, community, and connection.
As an advertising creative, her work focuses on stories that broaden existing narratives by diving into subcultures and communities that challenge them. She’s been described as “an idea machine,” with a point of view that sits at the unique intersection of film and online culture.
Clients include: Amazon Music, Expedia, Unmind, Chainlink, TEDx, Snapchat, Freeda Media, Vogue, and GQ India.
As a writer-director, she is drawn to character-driven stories that explore the drama of the everyday. Particularly exploring themes that frame south asian women’s perspectives.
Her recent documentary short, ‘SKATER UKTIS’ premiered at the Southbank Centre’s ‘Unbound Archives’. It screens at BAFTA qualifying festival Aesthetica 2024. Previous screenings include- London Indian Film Festival, Manchester Indian Film Festival, Skate & Surf Film Festival Milan, and more.
She’s been selected for Watershed and Cables & Cameras' Pitch Lab (2024), and Pitching Sessions with BBC Film and shortlisted for the Slick Films Fund 2024 . She’s a member of The Kusp, Shelance, Bitchitra Collective and POCC.
Currently, she is developing her next narrative short film.
